Clinical Research Assistant job Description
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator(s) and Clinical Research Coordinator, this Clinical Research Assistant role involves assisting with the acquisition and analysis of patient information for multiple clinical research projects. Responsibilities include interviewing patients to gather information, preparing and maintaining study records, entering data via computer, and performing statistical analyses of resultant data. The role may also involve performing EKGs and taking vital signs during research-based monitoring tests, as well as blood spinning and shipment of samples as required by protocol.
Eligibility Criteria
- BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor’s Degree in Applied or Life Sciences or related area, including courses in research methodologies and microcomputer systems.
Required Skills
- Three to six months of on-the-job experience to become familiar with specific research studies.
- Knowledge of theory and techniques of research methodology.
- Organizational skills to prioritize efforts on multiple projects.
- Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and families.
- Analytical skills for developing research protocols and performing statistical analyses.
- Technical ability to operate and maintain computer systems.

Clinical Research Assistant job – Key Responsibilities
- Assists research physician in identifying and following up with patients meeting criteria for inclusion in clinical research studies.
- Establishes and maintains study records for each participant, facilitating informed consent and scheduling patient appointments.
- Monitors adherence to protocol and alerts physicians to any discrepancies.
- Collects and organizes patient data for database entry and performs statistical analysis using pre-packaged software.
- Maintains computer equipment and prepares related graphs and charts of data gathered.
- Coordinates activities of others assigned to the research project.
- Reviews literature related to the research being conducted.
Salary: $41,537.60 – $68,556.80
