Job Description

The Novartis Next Generation Scientist Program 2027, run with the University of Basel, is an intensive 3-month research internship for talented scientists from low- and middle-income countries, hosted at the Novartis research site in Basel, Switzerland (01 June to 31 August 2027). Interns work on a jointly agreed scientific, clinical research or global health project under Novartis mentors and join a leadership development program.

Project Details

Research Areas: translational science, clinical development, global health

Therapeutic Areas: cardiovascular diseases; oncology (breast and prostate cancer); infectious diseases (malaria, dengue, cryptosporidiosis, leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, leprosy); sickle cell disease

Functional Areas: drug discovery and clinical research, clinical operations, bioinformatics, data analytics and AI, patient engagement/advocacy, global health

Eligibility Criteria for the Novartis Research Internship

  • Enrolled MSc, PhD or MD student at a university in a low- or middle-income country

Required Skills

  • Advanced spoken and written English
  • Able to work independently and in groups
  • Good time management and organisation
  • Active participation in all program activities

Salary

Monthly stipend for incidentals and basic living expenses.
