The Computational Toxicology group functions to develop, refine, and bring awareness to in-silico methods that may help predict and understand safety for small and large molecules. The Computational Toxicology Intern will gain exposure to a wide range of safety-related datasets ranging from biology, pharmacology, toxicology, and chemistry to help with predictive modeling, data engineering, and data visualization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with experts to independently curate, harmonize, and interpret internal safety findings across historical data to assist in data convergence.
- Implement strategies to better structure and utilize safety data in a meaningful manner to address scientific inquiry of drug safety challenges.
- Integrate state-of-the-art bioinformatics and AI/ML pipelines into current computational toxicology workflows and user-friendly interfaces.
- Collaborate with research and bioinformatics scientists to conceive informatics analysis strategy, leveraging advanced machine learning/AI algorithms, to support discovery and pre-clinical safety studies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Master’s in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, or other related field.
- Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship.
- Expected graduation date between 04/2025 and 04/2026.
- Must have experience with programming and data visualization and/or databasing.
- Proficient in a variety of coding languages, including Python.
- Strong problem-solving skills including critical and analytical thinking.
- Must be able to clearly communicate ideas and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Expected graduation date between December 2024 – July 202.
