Qualifications/Education
Degree qualified in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field. Knowledge of FDA and European regulations is desirable, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate should have experience in a microbiology laboratory setting, an understanding of microbiological testing in product development, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related discipline is preferred.
Position Overview
Convatec is seeking a Scientist I to join the microbiology laboratory at Global Testing Laboratories. The incumbent will be responsible for performing microbiological testing to support life cycle management projects across various business units while ensuring adherence to internal procedures, regulations, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Working within a controlled ISO13485 laboratory quality system
- Performing routine microbiological tests for product development
- Assisting in the development and validation of new assays
- Accurate recording and analysis of laboratory data
- Training junior staff in microbial techniques
- Assisting with laboratory routines, equipment maintenance, media preparation, and more
Principal Contacts & Purpose of Contact
Internal contacts include Quality, Research & project teams, and EHS for information exchange. External contacts include Equipment Vendors and Consumable Vendors for procurement and maintenance purposes.
Travel Requirements
Minimal travel (1-5 days a year) may be required for this role.
Working Conditions
The position entails working in a laboratory/office environment with exposure to biological agents, chemicals, and reagents.
Special Factors
The role involves exposure to biological agents (Hazard Groups 1 and 2).
