Lab Assistant Job Description
Lab assistant job responsibilities at AskBio involve supporting general laboratory operations and sample management activities for bioanalytical programs. The selected candidate will report to the Director, Bioanalytical, and work closely with scientific teams in a regulated laboratory environment.
The role requires prior experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for sample management, accessioning, and tracking. Candidates with knowledge of gene therapy platforms and laboratory operations will have an added advantage in AskBio careers.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Lab assistant job applicants must meet one of the following educational and experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, or related field with 1 year of relevant work experience OR
- High School Diploma with 5+ years of relevant work experience
Additional requirements include:
- Prior experience in an industry laboratory setting
- Familiarity with lab consumables and common reagents
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills using Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and email platforms
Preferred Qualifications

Sample Management and LIMS Support
- Manage sample accessioning and tracking using LIMS
- Organize and prepare samples for analysis
- Coordinate sample requests with external vendors
- Resolve sample discrepancies with internal stakeholders
- Prepare samples for archiving following SOPs and regulations
Laboratory Operations
- Maintain inventory of reagents and lab materials
- Place orders for laboratory supplies
- Ensure lab areas remain clean and organized
- Receive internal shipments and maintain chain of custody
- Support routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Coordinate temperature control unit maintenance schedules
LIMS Data Management
- Build and maintain master data within LabVantage LIMS
