The University of Sheffield is seeking a Research Technician to join the Mechanisms of Health & Disease research group within the School of Clinical Dentistry. Among the current University of Sheffield research jobs, this role is integral to a major new externally funded interdisciplinary programme led by Dr. Thomas Paterson, focusing on the development of engineered fungal networks as bioelectronic interface materials. The successful candidate will provide technical support for various laboratory processes, including mammalian cell culture, biological assays, and sample processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated technical support to the funded fungal biointerface programme.
- Maintain and support mammalian cell culture workflows.
- Prepare media, reagents, buffers, and assay consumables.
- Support fungal exposure experiments in cell and tissue culture models.
- Assist with microscopy, imaging, and sample-processing workflows.
- Prepare samples for various imaging and analysis techniques.
- Organize and maintain laboratory resources and records.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Eligibility Criteria Required For University of Sheffield research jobs
- A Degree, HND, National Diploma or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific field such as biomedical sciences, biological sciences, neuroscience, immunology, cell biology, microbiology, biotechnology or a related discipline
