Biologist Job Summary
The biologist job will be responsible for planning and conducting wet lab and in vivo studies supporting early discovery efforts and established pipeline projects within the cardiometabolic research areas. Rigorous documentation and lab notebook maintenance are essential to this role. Additional responsibilities include buffer preparation and general laboratory upkeep.
Biologist Job – Key Responsibilities
- Plan and run manual plate-based ELISA immunoassays and perform data analysis.
- Perform cell cultures and various cell-based and biochemical in vitro assays.
- Daily support in maintaining cell lines including immortalized and primary cells for assays.
- Isolate genomic material (DNA, RNA) to perform RT-QPCR.
- Isolate protein to perform Western Blotting and Immunoprecipitation (IP).
- Prepare animals for necropsy and assist with necropsy.
- Use of liquid handler automation including Tecan and Hamilton instrumentation.
- Conduct metabolic profiling assays in rodent models, including insulin and glucose tolerance tests.
- Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment including centrifuges, pipettes, and spectrophotometers.
- Record data in Electronic Lab Notebooks.
- Comply with clients and company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
- Follow guidelines set forth by clients and in the company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Other duties as defined by manager, department needs, and workload.

Education and Experience
- Degree requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or closely related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the laboratory performing experiments and evaluating data.
