Boehringer Ingelheim Internship Description
Patient Engagement at Boehringer Ingelheim helps ensure that the voices, experiences, and priorities of patients inform the decisions made across the healthcare and innovation journey. Guided by the Patient-Powered Progress approach, the team partners with patients, caregivers, and patient organizations as equal experts, using lived experience to shape research, evidence generation, healthcare policy, market access, and patient support initiatives. As part of this Boehringer Ingelheim placement, the intern will support work that brings patient perspectives into these activities, as outlined below.
Eligibility Criteria
- Currently studying for a BSc in Biology, Biochemistry, or other Life Sciences degree.
- A minimum of three A levels at grades ABB, or equivalent with at least one grade from a life science subject.
- The right to work in the UK for the full duration of the internship.
- The ability to travel independently to the usual place of work and, where required, to other sites.

Boehringer Ingelheim internship – Key Responsibilities
- Support the monitoring and mapping of patient community activities relevant to various therapeutic areas (TAs) and the business as a whole.
- Support internal communications activities that promote the work of the Patient Engagement team.
- Contribute to team initiatives for development and work planning.
- Support the development of Patient Engagement-related content for integrated business planning processes.
- Assist the Patient Engagement team in delivering defined projects.
- Support the Medical & Legal review of Patient Engagement deliverables as required.
- Participate in internal and external meetings as required.
