Job Position: Research Scientist – Immunoassay Development

Location: Mississauga, Ontario

Job Responsibilities:

Optimize new technology for Vital’s diagnostic product:

  • Collaborate with the Research and Development team to develop and commercialize immunoassays
  • Meet ambitious deadlines and contribute to the achievement of goals

Design and perform experiments:

  • Independently design experiments and collaborate with the Senior Scientist and scientific team
  • Perform a variety of experiments including antibody screening, bio-conjugations, reagent formulation, and more
  • Document experiments meticulously and maintain laboratory records

Quantitative analysis and result communication:

  • Analyze and communicate results to fellow scientists and non-science stakeholders
  • Verify and validate assays in compliance with FDA regulations
  • Solve problems in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams

Lab management and collaboration:

  • Manage inventory and supply chain responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with peers and leadership to support decision-making
  • Contribute to departmental strategies and improvements


  • Associate Scientist: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related field with 2+ years of experience
  • Scientist I-III: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 3+ years of laboratory experience or a PhD ranging from 0-5 years of postdoctoral experience (industry experience a plus)
    Direct, hands-on research laboratory experience in a relevant field
  • Competency in biochemistry and chemistry, with knowledge of immunoassay concepts and applications
  • Clear communication skills and meticulous organization and documentation abilities
    Ability to multitask, rapidly learn new techniques, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Bonus skills: Experience in immunoassay design and development, nanoparticle experience, ability to write and maintain SOPs, good communication skills, startup experience, appreciation of puns
