Job Position: Research Scientist – Immunoassay Development
Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Job Responsibilities:
Optimize new technology for Vital’s diagnostic product:
- Collaborate with the Research and Development team to develop and commercialize immunoassays
- Meet ambitious deadlines and contribute to the achievement of goals
Design and perform experiments:
- Independently design experiments and collaborate with the Senior Scientist and scientific team
- Perform a variety of experiments including antibody screening, bio-conjugations, reagent formulation, and more
- Document experiments meticulously and maintain laboratory records
Quantitative analysis and result communication:
- Analyze and communicate results to fellow scientists and non-science stakeholders
- Verify and validate assays in compliance with FDA regulations
- Solve problems in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
Lab management and collaboration:
- Manage inventory and supply chain responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with peers and leadership to support decision-making
- Contribute to departmental strategies and improvements
Qualifications:
- Associate Scientist: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related field with 2+ years of experience
- Scientist I-III: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 3+ years of laboratory experience or a PhD ranging from 0-5 years of postdoctoral experience (industry experience a plus)
Direct, hands-on research laboratory experience in a relevant field - Competency in biochemistry and chemistry, with knowledge of immunoassay concepts and applications
- Clear communication skills and meticulous organization and documentation abilities
Ability to multitask, rapidly learn new techniques, and adapt to changing priorities - Bonus skills: Experience in immunoassay design and development, nanoparticle experience, ability to write and maintain SOPs, good communication skills, startup experience, appreciation of puns
