Associate Technical Specialist Job Description

Charles River Laboratories is excited to recruit three Associate Technical Specialists on 12-month Fixed Term Contracts to join their High Peak site. These hands-on roles involve carrying out various scientific techniques to support client projects within set deadlines. Candidates should be enthusiastic about lab work and eager to develop skills in cell culture, assay preparation, and cell line maintenance in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities of Associate Technical Specialist Job include:

  • Independently perform production protocols in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Conduct cell transfection activities using established methodologies.
  • Carry out cell processing activities to support production workflows and project delivery.
  • Produce Retrogenix Cell Microarray slides to required quality and productivity standards.
  • Perform quality control checks throughout production processes and report deviations.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions with limited supervision.
  • Accurately record and maintain production data in accordance with company standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing quality and efficiency.

Eligibility Criteria for Associate Technical Specialist Job

  • Minimum BSc degree in a relevant scientific discipline (Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, Cell Biology, or related subject).
  • MSc in a relevant scientific discipline is preferred.
  • Practical laboratory experience gained through industrial placement, academic research, or commercial laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of cell culture and aseptic laboratory techniques is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
  • Ability to work within a process-driven production environment while maintaining quality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to perform repetitive laboratory processes to defined standards.
