Job Title: Research Assistant

This is an opportunity to join our dynamic Canola Trait Integration team in Winnipeg, Canada. As a Research Assistant, you will play a crucial role in our canola research and improvement initiatives.

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Employment Type: 12-month term position

Responsibilities:

Project Management:

• Manage day-to-day organization of growth room projects
• Perform tasks such as seeding, transplanting, pollination, and harvesting

Plant Care and Maintenance:

• Maintain plant care and control diseases and insects in growth rooms
• Conduct molecular marker tissue sampling and chemical spraying

Documentation and Collaboration:

• Keep detailed records and assist in document creation
• Collaborate with research staff to implement process improvements

Quality Compliance:

• Uphold Quality Management System (QMS) and safety standards
• Ensure workplace tidiness and orderliness

Teamwork and Support:

• Train temporary employees as needed
• Assist in other projects and duties as required

Requirements:

• Degree or diploma in agricultural/biological science or related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, TEAMS, and Sharepoint
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
• Highly motivated with strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Flexibility and willingness to learn new procedures
• Manitoba Pesticide Applicator License is an asset
