Dordt University is currently seeking a biochemistry faculty member whose primary responsibilities include teaching courses in biochemistry and some combination of organic chemistry, molecular biology, or related courses in line with their experience and qualifications. This faculty member will hold a joint appointment within the Biology and Chemistry departments, which offer several degrees and program tracks in biology and chemistry and also offer courses and support students in other degree programs (such as Nursing, Agriculture, Environmental Studies, and Health & Human Performance) and pre-professional tracks (such as pre-med, pre-physical therapy, pre-vet, etc.). Role – Biochemistry Faculty
Responsibilities
- Teach introductory and advanced courses in biochemistry, molecular biology, and other potential areas such as organic chemistry, synthetic chemistry, bioinformatics, genetics, or microbiology, in line with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
- Engage in scholarship and academic service within Dordt University’s growing and highly collaborative community of faculty and students.
- Regularly involve students in research or lead students in other scholarly activities.
- Provide robust support for faculty development, academic service, and scholarship.
Qualifications
- Earned doctoral degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field; a master’s degree in one of these areas or equivalent experience is required.
- Experience in teaching is preferred, and/or work experience or research that focuses on leading, teaching, and learning in the field of biology or chemistry.
- Commitment to excellence in college-level teaching, including curriculum design, classroom management, and ongoing student learning assessment is required.
