Job Description
Bioinformatics job role involves leading development efforts in plant and algal genomics. As a specialist, you will design and implement end-to-end computational pipelines for long-read sequencing technologies such as Nanopore and PacBio. You will also contribute to an ARIA-funded project focused on programmable plastid genomes, working within a multinational consortium.
You will focus on chloroplast genomics, streamline genetic variation analysis, and deliver customized bioinformatics solutions. This computational biology job bridges plant and algal research, enabling collaborators to access advanced genomic insights and tools.
Qualifications
Bioinformatics job requirements include:
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related fields
- Experience in long-read sequencing technologies and plant/algal genomics
- Proven experience in building NGS/TGS pipelines or cross-platform software
- Expertise in GitHub, Nextflow, and Docker
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, and Bash
- Experience with HPC systems like Slurm and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of data visualisation tools such as Plotly, Matplotlib, and ggplot2
- Experience in genome assembly, annotation, comparative genomics, and variant calling
- Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills
Additional Skills (Preferred)
Bioinformatics job candidates may also have:
- Experience in human genomics or metagenomics
