Bioinformatics Student Intern at The Jackson Laboratory
Bioinformatics Student Intern
- locations:Â Bar Harbor, Maine
- job requisition id:Â JR004461
Summary
The Computational Sciences (CS) department is seeking an intern this summer. Over 12 to 14 weeks, the intern will work under the direct supervision of a Sr. Computational Scientist collaborating on a research project to identify genomic loci that are related to allele loss (or gain) in the Diversity Outbred mouse.
As an intern, you will analyze ten years of genotype data and search for alleles whose frequency has changed at a rate higher than expected. You will then prioritize candidate genes and structural variants within these regions for biological follow-up. The challenges will be in wrangling large amounts of data, understanding three-dimensional tensors, and writing clean, efficient, well-documented code.
