Job Description
This biological science internship offers an opportunity to work as part of the OpenAg R&D global team at UPL. The selected candidate will contribute to ongoing research in the weed science program and gain valuable exposure to real-world agricultural challenges. The position is based at the OpenAg Research and Development Center in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, and reports to the Global Research Lead for Weed Science.
Qualifications
Minimum
- B.S. degree or currently pursuing a B.S. (junior or senior year preferred) in biological sciences such as weed science, agriculture, agronomy, plant science, or related fields
- At least one year of relevant experience preferred
- Experience in plant culture and conducting lab or greenhouse experiments
- Basic understanding of applied statistics for experimental data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new software
- Ability to work in greenhouse environments and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to safely handle biological, microbial, and chemical weed management technologies
- Willingness to follow laboratory and greenhouse safety procedures
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Ability to handle confidential company information responsibly
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with scientists in the Weed Science team to support ongoing research activities
- Perform general laboratory operations and day-to-day activities
- Maintain research supplies inventory and ensure equipment upkeep
- Assist in planting, maintaining, and growing plants in greenhouse conditions
- Support the setup, execution, and completion of experiments
- Demonstrate strong observational and organizational skills
- Manage multiple tasks efficiently and adapt to new challenges
- Learn and apply new techniques beyond assigned tasks
