Biotechnologist Job Description
Biotechnologist professionals in this role will support gene synthesis production activities through troubleshooting, order management, sequencing analysis, and process optimization. The position requires collaboration with R&D and production teams while ensuring efficient order execution and customer satisfaction. The role involves managing customer orders throughout the production lifecycle, analyzing sequencing results, resolving cloning abnormalities, and supporting technology transfer between teams.
Qualifications
Biotechnologist candidates should possess strong technical expertise in molecular biology and gene synthesis processes.
- Master’s degree or above in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a related field.
- Experience in troubleshooting abnormal cloning results and performing root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of gene synthesis production workflows.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and exception-handling skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Responsible, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and a strong team player.
- Excellent learning agility and professional ethics.
- Available to work 8-hour shifts, 5 days a week, with 2 rest days that may not always fall on weekends.
Biotechnologist – Key Responsibilities
Biotechnologist responsibilities include managing production workflows and troubleshooting gene synthesis processes.
- Develop a reasonable production plan based on customer orders.
- Manage customer orders throughout the entire production lifecycle to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Read literature, design test plans, and solve gene synthesis production abnormalities.
- Communicate with R&D and production teams from China and support technology transfer to the production team in Singapore.
- Troubleshoot PCR exceptions, linearization exceptions, rolling exceptions, bacterial inspection exceptions, extraction exceptions, sequencing exceptions, and QC exceptions.
- Analyze production data and provide improvement plans to support departmental goals.
- Analyze first, second, and third-generation sequencing results for cloning and template transformation (vectors, plasmids).
- Perform root cause analysis and develop reasonable plans for incorrect sequencing results.
- Design schemes for different cloning methods such as recombination, annealing, chain reaction, and restriction enzyme recombination.
