BS Biology Job Description

BS Biology Job focused on molecular biology and cancer research. The Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, School of Medicine is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Entry Level Research Services Laboratory Sciences Professional (RSP).

The main emphasis of this position will be working on the role of signaling pathways and the development of new therapeutic strategies for thyroid cancer in Dr. Rebecca Schweppe’s lab. These studies will utilize molecular biology and cell-based approaches, including Western blotting, growth assays, gene expression analysis, molecular cloning, cell culture, 3D culture, and microscopy. The lab also uses mouse models to study thyroid cancer progression and response to therapy. To further translate findings to the clinic, the lab utilizes tissue samples from thyroid cancer patients. The candidate is encouraged to take on an independent project with guidance, including designing experiments, optimizing protocols, and analyzing data.

Qualifications

BS Biology Job requires a strong academic background in life sciences

Minimum

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience in experimental or wet laboratory
  • Experience with fluorescence and confocal microscopy
  • Experience with techniques such as:
    • DNA, RNA, and protein isolation
    • PCR and quantitative PCR
    • Immunoblotting
    • Cell and tissue culture
    • Flow cytometry
    • Animal handling
  • 1–2 years of laboratory experience

Skills and Abilities
