Educational Requirements for Sequencing Laboratory Technician Role:
- Bachelorโs degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Equivalent: Two years of directly related industry experience may substitute one year of college coursework.
- Annual RCRA awareness training required.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities of Sequencing Laboratory Technician Role:
- Perform DNA sequencing reactions and purifications using ABI 3730xl sequencers.
- Organize and prioritize DNA sample processing for daily sequencing runs.
- Operate laboratory equipment such as thermocyclers, centrifuges, and automated liquid handlers.
- Maintain accurate production records and ensure compliance with quality system standards.
- Follow SOPs, batch records, and safety protocols for laboratory operations.
- Support the Lab Team Lead in managing workflows and quality checks.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and adhere to PPE and hazardous material handling guidelines.
Skills Required for Sequencing Laboratory Technician Role:
- Experience with basic biology and sequencing techniques.
- Familiarity with 3730xl DNA Sequencing and oligonucleotide manufacturing preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO-9000 or cGMP standards.
- Strong computer, organizational, and data entry skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently, handle pressure, and multitask effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Excel.
- Physically able to lift 35+ pounds and work night shifts.
