Cambridge Postdoctoral Research Associate Job Description
This Research Associate position focuses on elucidating mechanisms of antibacterial and antiviral immunity in birds. The research will primarily involve characterizing the innate immune complexes that form in avian cells in response to infection, comparing them with human systems. The project aims to investigate the role of protein concentration in the formation of these molecular assemblies, utilizing precise gene editing techniques to explore the relevant genes. The isolation of signaling complexes will be followed by a proteomic analysis of their contents in a time- and stimulus-dependent manner.
Eligibility Criteria
- PhD in cell biology, evolutionary biology, immunology, or a related discipline
Cambridge Postdoctoral Research Associate – Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on antibacterial and antiviral immune responses in birds.
- Investigate how innate immune complexes form in avian cells during infections.
- Compare avian immune mechanisms with those found in humans.
- Study the role of protein concentration in forming immune-related molecular complexes.
- Perform CRISPR-based gene editing to investigate specific genes.
