CRA Job Description
Life sciences job seekers with strong organizational and research skills can apply for this Clinical Research Assistant role. The successful candidate will support oncology clinical trials and work closely with Clinical Research Coordinators, Research Nurses, and other research staff.
The Research Assistant will contribute to clinical research activities involving innovative cancer therapies while ensuring accurate data management, laboratory support, and study coordination in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Clinical research job applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- BA or BSc degree in life sciences or related field
- One or more years of research training or equivalent research experience
- Three or more years of office environment experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent typing skills exceeding 50 words per minute
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with high attention to detail
Preferred
CRA job candidates with the following experience will be preferred:
- Clinical trial research assistant experience
- Oncology clinical trials experience
- Knowledge of laboratory test collection kits
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
- Familiarity with clinical trials regulatory documentation
- Experience with electronic database data entry

Key Responsibilities
CRA job responsibilities include supporting various clinical trial and research activities within the Clinical Research Unit.
Key duties include:
- Assisting Clinical Research Coordinators with accurate and timely data entry
- Ordering study-specific materials and supplies
- Organizing investigational products and study supplies
- Preparing lab kits and labeling laboratory tubes and requisitions
- Delivering lab kits to clinical areas for patient visits
- Coordinating shipment and transport of specimens
- Supporting tumor group calendars
- Uploading and submitting diagnostic imaging scans
- Ordering pathology slides and tumor blocks
- Performing administrative tasks including photocopying, scanning, filing, and document management
- Assisting with finance reporting for billable tests
- Supporting pharmaceutical monitor visits and escorting monitors within the cancer centre
- Assisting with development of study procedures and research materials
- Supporting policy and procedure development for study processing and data management
- Archiving study materials and transporting research-related materials
- Training new clinical trials staff when required
