Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a research technician to join the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN) on a translational research project. SITraN is a purpose-built research facility which was opened in November 2010 by Her Majesty the Queen and awarded the Queenโs Anniversary prize for higher education in 2020 in recognition of having made an outstanding positive impact in patients’ lives.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Grow and maintain human cells, including neural progenitors and downstream differentiated cells.
- Perform protein/RNA/DNA extractions, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, quantitative PCR and MSD-ELISA.
- Accurate data collection and analysis from human biosamples.
- Maintain an accurate database of cell banks.
Essential criteria:
- A MSc/BSc in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, or Biotechnology.
- Experience of working in tissue culture and molecular biology techniques.
- Attention to detail and ability to keep accurate records.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Good organisational, time management, and communication skills.
Desirable criteria:
- Knowledge of cell reprogramming and neuronal cell differentiation.
- Problem-solving skills with an appreciation of longer-term implications.
