Job Description
Sealed Air is seeking a driven individual to focus on test method development, new product innovation, and customer-focused support. This role is tasked with working to understand packaging materials, their interactions with packaging equipment, and how to translate lab-based data to real-world applications. The qualified candidate will be responsible for using critical thinking and curiosity to develop test plans, conduct fitness-for-use testing, communicate results, and provide technical recommendations. The co-op student will work under the direction of an Applications Manager but will also work closely with full-time Applications Engineers for guidance and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and propose strategic ideas that drive the enhancement of current product lines or the development of new product lines based on an understanding of materials, equipment, and customer operations.
- Develop, design, and conduct trials that validate the reliability of equipment, materials, and their interactions in order to provide the most robust solution to our customers.
- Apply your area of education to the development of new products and/or processes within the Sealed Air portfolio of food packaging.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for project stakeholders.
- Some limited travel may be involved to Sealed Air manufacturing plants or customer sites.
Qualifications
Education: At least two years completed working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in packaging science, engineering, food science, meat science or a related discipline from a four-year college or university.

- Strong academic record with a 3.0 GPA or higher
- Creative problem solver with strong critical thinking skills
- Self-motivated
- Able to work independently and with a team
- Strong verbal and written skills
