Overview
We are seeking a skilled Bioinformatician to contribute to our life science and therapeutic research programs by providing statistical support for ongoing studies on the behavior and performance of reprogrammed and differentiated cell lines. As a member of the Data Sciences team, you will be responsible for developing robust analytical pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing data, including technologies such as RNASeq, whole genome sequencing, epigenetic analysis, and proteomics.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform data analysis with in-house and externally generated NGS data.
- Assist in interpreting experimental results.
- Manage data collections to support analyses.
- Evaluate analysis methods for applicability to research goals.
- Ensure reproducibility of analyses.
- Support development projects in bioinformatics and data management.
- Educate scientific staff on bioinformatics best practices.
- Develop new methods of analysis as needed.
Required Skills and Education
- Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or related field, or bachelor’s degree + 2 years of relevant experience.
- 3 years of professional experience in computational biology.
- Experience with computational biology tools and methods.
- Programming experience in Perl, Python, R, and bash.
- Relational Database Experience in MySQL, MS SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres.
- Unix/Linux experience and shell scripting.
- Experience in proteomics, mass spec, and image analysis is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, organization, and ability to work on-site in Madison, WI.
