Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) is a key part of General Mills’ business strategy and FSQ plays the lead role in ensuring high quality, food safe products that meet our customer’s needs. This position reports directly to the Food Safety and Quality Manager and will provide continuous improvement of processes and products through the application of problem solving and statistical process control techniques.

Eligbility Criteria: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Bakery Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related Business degree
  • 1+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or equivalent manufacturing experience
  • Good understanding of the theory and functionality of manufacturing operations
  • Knowledge of sensory methods, food science, food safety and sanitation are desired
  • Excellent computer skills and strong oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated leadership and self-initiative

  • Ability to lead with a human and food safety first mindset
  • Provide leadership and technical support in the areas of Food Safety and Quality Management with an emphasis on consumer requirements, and continuous product quality and productivity improvements
  • Develop action plans with Manufacturing, R&D, Engineering and Quality Operations teams to ensure that product specifications, analytical procedures, sampling programs and control systems are appropriate and meet system capability and key consumer requirements
  • Serve as a key statistical process methods resource
  • Initiate product and process improvements through the implementation and analysis of designed experiments and capability studies
  • Design and implement programs to monitor calibration and accuracy of all analytical procedures and equipment in the laboratory and in the plant
  • Collect, analyze and interpret in-process and analytical data to make quality evaluations
  • Recommend actions for food safety and quality systems improvements and ensure resolution
  • Provide risk assessment analysis
  • Manage issues with non-conforming product to assure proper control, minimize losses and provide analysis to eliminate future occurrences.
    Provide training in the area of applied statistics, regulatory requirements, and quality measurement systems
  • Conduct sanitation and product safety inspections
  • Have a deep understanding and knowledge in the following topics: FSMA, FSSC/GFSI and HACCP principles
  • Ensure the facility meets all General Mills and governmental regulatory, sanitation, and product safety guidelines
  • Provide technical expertise to assist continuous improvement efforts in the plant
  • Support the design and implementation of plant tests in accordance with statistical test design criteria, to assure the desired test objectives are achieved
  • Lead and support sanitation related activities on lines of responsibility
