About the Role
Job Description
This is a Research and Development (R&D) role leading project initiatives across the Processed Cheese categories within the Meat and Cheese Business Unit. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing and executing work plans, driving for results, and leading technical projects to meet business initiatives focused on growth, brand maintenance, cost engineering, and quality improvement.
The candidate will also play a key role in driving long-term technology enablers for the business unit. This position requires excellent communication and teamwork skills to operate effectively in a dynamic and cross-functional environment. The successful candidate must manage multiple assignments/tasks concurrently with a high degree of autonomy.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the willingness/ability to learn new product categories and/or processing areas
- Work directly with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new product launches
- Create and edit formulas, processing procedures, and finished product specifications
- Design and conduct plant trials, summarizing results
- Collaborate with operations to optimize processes and production
- Develop and manage deliverables to achieve R&D timelines
- Maintain technical documentation
- Adapt and apply scientific principles to new products with a high degree of autonomy
Qualifications
- BS/MS degree in Dairy Science, Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in product development and commercialization
- Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills
- Experience across a broad range of cheese and dairy ingredients desired
- Strong understanding of Design of Experiments
- Willingness to travel approximately 25-30% of the time
