MD Anderson Research Intern – An overview
This MD Anderson internship provides hands-on exposure to clinical innovation, medical device development, and translational research. The Research Intern will observe various surgical procedures across different specialties to understand clinical workflows and the role of technology in clinical settings. The intern will also participate in a two-week Biodesign workshop series focused on the medical device innovation process, learning to identify and evaluate unmet clinical needs, and conduct medical device strategy development.
Learning Objectives Of MD Anderson Research Intern
- Learn Design Concept Analysis – Students will learn and apply the medical device product development process, including needs finding/screening, concept generation through prototyping, and strategy development.
- Participate in Prototyping of Novel Medical Device Designs – Students will observe and assist in using CAD/CAM modeling software and learn prototyping techniques.
- Communication and Clinician Engagement – Students may assist clinicians in gathering information on clinical problems and proposed solutions, organizing this information into project summaries.
Eligibility Requirements
Students must have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in life sciences and/or engineering within the last year.
