Medical Affairs Intern Description
Intern roles at Edwards Lifesciences provide an opportunity to combine science, engineering, and business within Medical Affairs projects and activities. Interns will be assigned to one or two studies/projects within THV and/or TMTT business areas and collaborate with Medical Affairs professionals, internal colleagues, and external principal investigators to generate valuable clinical evidence.
This job in Japan offers exposure to clinical research, scientific communication, data interpretation, project coordination, medical congress participation, and operational excellence initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Medical Affairs Intern applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Completed a 4-year college or university program with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.
- Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program (Master’s or Ph.D.) or above.
- Basic scientific knowledge in biology.
- Strong scientific writing skills for drafting reports and documenting actions.
- Leadership mindset with self-starter qualities and collaborative working abilities.
- Strong coordination and project management skills across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
Medical Affairs Intern candidates will support clinical evidence generation and Medical Affairs activities through the following responsibilities:
- Designing studies, planning refinements, and drafting key study documents.
- Providing appropriate scientific comments on draft manuscripts and abstracts.
- Analyzing and interpreting received data or reported results and preparing feedback or next actions.
- Coordinating and supporting Round Table Discussions and Advisory Board meetings.
- Supporting scientific exchanges with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) through medical congresses and other engagement opportunities.
- Summarizing flash reports and preparing digest articles from key medical congress presentations.
- Supporting and conducting product material reviews using the Veeva system.
- Participating in operational excellence projects utilizing new AI systems.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve project milestones.
