Microbiology Job Description
Microbiology job responsibilities in this analyst job involve performing microbiological analyses and supporting laboratory operations in a professional testing environment. The selected candidate will:
- Perform various microbiological tests and analyses on samples using standard laboratory techniques
- Prepare culture media, reagents, and materials required for microbiological testing
- Conduct microbiological tests for finished products and raw materials, including: MLT, Bioburden, Endotoxin testing, Antibiotic Potency Assay, AET, Sterility Testing and Disinfectant Studies
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and test results
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment with proper calibration
- Assist in developing and optimizing microbiological testing methods
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment
- Follow safety protocols and Good Laboratory Practice (GMP) guidelines
- Participate in data analysis and interpretation of results
- Assist in preparing reports and documentation for internal and external use
Qualifications
Microbiology job applicants should meet the following educational and technical requirements for this job in biology:
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience in microbiology or related laboratory work
- Internship or academic research experience is considered valuable
- Proficiency in microbiology laboratory techniques and microscopy
- Experience using: Autoclave, Incubator, Water bath, Biohazard hood, Filtration apparatus, Balance and pH meter
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain organized laboratory records
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Understanding of microbiology principles and quality control procedures
- Willingness to learn new laboratory methodologies and techniques
