Moderna Engineer Job Description
The Moderna Engineer I will be responsible for supporting the development of sterile drug product development processes and products that enable clinical and future commercial supply. This includes assisting in product concept development, process development, and scale-up work. The incumbent will also support the development of aseptic fill/finish unit operations and drug product packaging through various studies and collaborations within the organization. Applicants should possess relevant experience in drug product development and demonstrate exceptional planning, execution, and communication skills.
Eligibility Criteria for Moderna Engineer
- Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical or Packaging Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related fields.
- Experience: 0 – 2 years post Master’s Degree or 0 – 4 years post Bachelor’s Degree.
- Exceptional laboratory skills with the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of statistical design of experiments (DoE) and analysis.
- Knowledge of nucleic acid chemistry and biology is a plus.
Required Skills
- Experience in the BioPharma, BioPharmaceutical, Pharmaceutical, or Biotechnology industry is preferred.
- Experience with nanoparticle formulation technology is an advantage.
- Knowledge of GMP compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct studies to support scale-up of drug product manufacturing (e.g., freeze/thaw, mixing, filling, filtration, lyophilization).
- Support drug product container/package development through various studies (e.g., shipping stress studies, leachable & extractable studies).
- Develop protocols to evaluate compatibility of drug products with processing materials and sterilization processes.
- Plan, organize, and execute experiments, preparing study protocols and summarizing results.
- Collaborate with various groups to execute experiments and compile data.
- Maintain an up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) with good documentation practices.
- Generate innovative solutions to challenging formulation and process problems.
