Novozymes PhD Scientist Vacancy 2022 – Biology & Microbiology
They are seeking a Scientist to join our Microbial Assay Development team in Research Triangle Park, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of microbial Quality Control assays, their transfer into worldwide QC labs, and the design and governance of stability trials required for product launches. In your primary role, you will act as a subject matter expert to provide experimental oversight to lab specialists and QC personnel. Secondarily, you will oversee microbial pipeline projects. You will be responsible for working with and communicating to diverse stakeholders (R&D/Commercial/Pilot, etc) as the technical expert regarding method development. You will work with regulatory and QC/QA stakeholders to understand regional regulatory and compliance requirements needed for method development. You will have the opportunity to work across interdepartmental areas within the company as a part of project teams working to launch new products to a worldwide market.

To succeed you must hold:
- Ph.D. in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Life Sciences or related discipline or
- Masters with 3+ years experience.
- Work-related experience in the industry preferred, including experimental design and developing methods to support QC
- Working knowledge or demonstrated success in an industry setting of developing/validating assays in regulated environments
- The ability to prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment
In this role, you’ll make an impact by:
- Being the worldwide method responsible scientist for development, validation/verification, and transfer of microbial methods to QC or third-party labs, working within R&D, production, QM, and Q
- Being responsible for experimental design, data analysis, and authoring of technical documents
- Supporting your colleagues to develop Quality Control methods and meet project deliverables
- Having basic knowledge and/or experience in developing rapid microbiological methods and/or method validation following international standards (ISO, AOAC, etc).
- Demonstrating flexibility to prioritize multiple projects, excellent time management skills, and willingness to learn new roles and skills in a collaborative environment
- Being a proven team player with excellent communication and networking skills, preferably with experience in project management or project leadership
- Delivering clear and concise scientific and statistical communications to diverse stakeholders (internal or customers)
- Having working knowledge in applying statistics to complicated/variable datasets would make you a highly desirable candidate
