Job Description

The Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator will provide research coordination and operational support for clinical research studies within Ophthalmology. In this NUHS clinical research coordinator role, the successful candidate will work closely with Principal Investigators (PIs), clinicians, research teams, and relevant stakeholders. Responsibilities include supporting study activities such as ethics and regulatory submissions, study set-up, participant screening and recruitment, informed consent, study visits and follow-up, data collection and management, and maintenance of study documentation.

Qualification Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences or related fields.
  • Clinical research experience preferred; 1+ year for Coordinator level.
  • Certified Optometrists have an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of ICH-GCP, HBRA and research regulations preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; REDCap knowledge advantageous.
  • Strong bilingual communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work in teams and maintain confidentiality.

NUHS clinical research coordinator – Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate clinical research studies from initiation to completion, ensuring compliance with study protocols.
  • Assist in screening, recruiting, enrolling and obtaining informed consent from study participants.
  • Schedule study visits, conduct participant assessments and ensure timely follow-ups.
  • Coordinate with investigators, clinicians and research teams for smooth study operations.
  • Collect, enter and manage clinical research data using CRFs, eCRFs and REDCap.
  • Maintain accurate study documentation, participant records and Investigator Site Files.
  • Assist with ethics submissions, regulatory approvals and protocol amendments.
  • Ensure compliance with ICH-GCP, HBRA, HSA and institutional research guidelines.
  • Monitor and report adverse events, protocol deviations and other safety-related issues.
  • Coordinate biological sample collection, processing, storage and laboratory dispatch when required.
  • Support research protocol development, study planning and data analysis.
  • Prepare documentation for monitoring visits, audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Track recruitment progress, study timelines and research deliverables.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to principal investigators and research teams.
