Research Scientist Position at Oxford Nanopore Technologies

Job Description
Oxford Nanopore Technologies is seeking a Research Scientist to join the Protein Sequencing team. The successful candidate will be involved in exploring innovative methods for protein sequencing using nanopores, with the aim of revolutionizing biological analysis. This position will focus on designing and evaluating new ways to deliver proteins to our nanopore platform.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of analytes for sequencing using existing and novel methods
- Biochemical, biophysical, and sequencing-based assays
- Protein and nucleic acid modification or conjugation
- Analysing, presenting, and summarising data to team members
- Lab book-keeping and use of LIMS systems to track experiments
- Collaborating with teams across Research, Development, and Production divisions
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in biochemistry, chemistry, or related fields, or equivalent industry experience
- Experience in handling proteins and DNA in a molecular biology setting
- Knowledge of biophysical and bio-characterisation techniques
- Strong interpersonal, communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Desire to learn and grow within the role
- Knowledge of molecular biology, structural biology, and single-molecule biophysical methods
- Familiarity with programming languages (Python, R) and UNIX command-line is beneficial
