Eligibility Criteria for Pfizer Microbiology Jobs:

ROLE SUMMARY

The incumbent contributes to programs that apply molecular biology toward expressing vaccine antigens of interest in bacterial culture. Support of a program that seeks to optimize in vitro transcription and template preparation is in scope. The position is also responsible for preparing plasmids for expression of recombinant proteins, primarily in E coli. Responsibilities also include systematic cell banking. Experience in RNA extraction/preparation and in vitro transcription to support the design of processes for bulk production of RNA DS would be highly desirable as well. The position will pivot to fermentation and cell culture to analyze strains and as such a background in either would be extremely desirable.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Candidates applying for Pfizer Microbiology jobs should Perform experiments designed to optimize the preparation of DNA templates and in vitro transcription reactions for the production of DS RNAs
- Must perform experiments in a meticulous & timely manner
- The incumbent will be responsible for the preparation of bulk plasmid preparations for use in mammalian transfection experiments and in vitro transcription
- Prepare microbial cell banks and proactively archive them
- Performs laboratory experiments in fermentation and cell culture that evaluate strains, media and expression strategies for the production of vaccine antigen candidates
- Incumbent assists senior researchers in the evaluation of new technologies for the group
Gains understanding of the discipline through the reading of the scientific literature - Presents data summaries within the group
Fully documents experimental results in notebooks in a timely and compliant manner. - Works irregular hours (weekends and outside of 9-5 format) as experiments warrant
