Job Description
The Quality Control Sterility Microbiologist will be responsible for performing microbiological and sterility testing of raw materials, intermediates, finished products, and manufacturing environments to ensure regulatory compliance and support the timely release of products. This role involves working in state-of-the-art labs, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining high-quality standards in a GMP-regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct sterility testing (within isolators) of finished products and perform microbiological analysis.
- Test and report on raw materials, intermediates, and environmental samples.
- Perform environmental monitoring, bioburden (membrane filtration), endotoxin (LAL) testing, microbial identification, and growth promotion testing.
- Participate in aseptic fill-finish microbiological testing activities.
- Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain stock control of QC test materials for the microbiology lab and production areas.
- Coordinate investigations into OOS/OOT microbiology results, determining contributory factors and root causes.
- Review and update departmental documentation.
- Assist in training new staff members and support the QC Manager and Senior Microbiologist.
Qualifications
- HND/Degree in Microbiology or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of microbiological testing methods and applications.
- Proven experience in sterility testing of finished products.
- Knowledge of microbial identification techniques.
- Relevant industry or laboratory experience in microbiology.
- Basic understanding of cGMP principles.
- Flexibility to work shifts covering 07:00 to 03:00, Monday to Friday
