Research Assistant Job Description

Research assistant role responsibilities include working in the research teams of Prof Boon-Cher Goh, Assistant Professor Li-Ren Kong, and Dr Daryl Chia. The project is supported by the NUH Clinician Scientist Programme and focuses on investigating molecular drivers of gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis with the long-term objective of developing RNA interference (RNAi)-based therapeutic strategies for clinical translation.

The successful candidate will contribute to a multidisciplinary translational research programme integrating patient-derived clinical specimens, advanced preclinical models, and molecular profiling technologies. The primary responsibility will involve collecting, processing, preserving, and documenting clinical and in vivo specimens for downstream genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and spatial analyses.

Qualifications

Research assistant job applicants should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in cancer biology and translational research.
  • Excellent organisational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with clinical specimens, molecular biology, cell culture, or biobanking is preferred.
  • Laboratory management or research coordination experience is an advantage.
