Job Description

The Research Associate, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Genomics will conduct laboratory functions under the general supervision of the Head of NGS and Genomics. This role involves working as part of a team in the operation of the NGS and Genomics laboratory to achieve departmental goals. Responsibilities include hands-on preparation of NGS libraries and the operation and maintenance of NGS instrumentation, including Single Cell, Next Generation, and Third Generation sequencing platforms. The position requires a strong ability to troubleshoot routine and novel NGS assays, such as target enrichment methods, Chip-Seq, ATAC-seq, and other methods to explore chromatin biology.

Research Associate Job – Key Responsibilities

  • Nucleic acid extraction and quality control.
  • Manipulation of DNA (PCR, Electrophoresis, etc.).
  • NGS library preparation.
  • Operation and maintenance of NGS instrumentation.
  • Troubleshooting and quality control of library construction and sequencing runs.
  • Participate in group meetings for discussion of data and suggested next steps.
  • Maintain detailed records of the work carried out (electronic lab notebook).
  • Prepare and present results at internal meetings.

Eligibility Criteria for Research Associate Job

  • B.S./M.S. in Life Sciences with up to two years of R&D laboratory experience.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong detail-oriented capabilities and the ability to multi-task in a dynamic team environment.
