The Opportunity
Roche Diagnostics in Cape Town is looking for a full-time Senior Scientist to join the Enzyme Engineering group. This role will involve collaborating with a team of scientists to develop enzyme applications within the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) market.
Key Challenges
- Conduct early-stage research to explore and validate novel product ideas
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative products for the NGS market
- Share project progress reviews and insights
- Maintain detailed records of experiments and project-related information
- Stay updated on advancements in peer-reviewed publications and the marketplace
Who You Are as an Ideal Candidate
Education: MSc degree or equivalent qualification in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or Biotechnology
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in enzyme improvement and general molecular biology
Recommended Skills and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of a variety of molecular biology techniques
- Strong analytical, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills and ability to convey findings
- Practical experience with enzyme mutagenesis, expression, purification, and analysis
