Sanford Health Research Specialist Job Description
The Surendran Lab at Sanford Research is seeking a Research Specialist to investigate the plasticity and cell type remodeling capacity of the adult kidney. In this Sanford Health Research Specialist role, the candidate will learn mouse genetic tools, molecular biology, and biochemical approaches to address biomedical problems. The ideal candidate will assist in performing non-complex research and experimentation, following established protocols, and contribute to the design of experiments and new techniques.
Key Responsibilities Of Sanford Health Research Specialist
- Assists other research investigators by performing non-complex research and experimentation.
- Performs routine lab and equipment maintenance.
- Sets up and operates various scientific apparatus.
- Prepares and weighs samples for testing and analysis.
- Conducts tests, assays, and other protocols under supervision.
- Documents procedural actions and summarizes findings.
- May perform complex scientific techniques, including cell culture and studies involving animal models.
- Engages in local travel between sites as required.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in a clinical, health, or life science field required.
- B.S. in Genetics, Molecular Cell Biology or Biochemistry; technical expertise in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and/or bioinformatics
- Demonstrated prior experience and competence in a research environment preferred.
- BS-level Research Specialist assisting investigators; cell culture / animal models possible (no 6+ year minimum)
