We are situated on Addenbrooke’s Biomedical Campus and are part of both the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, and the CRUK Cambridge Centre. The Institute is home to 18 research groups that cover a spectrum of research from basic experimental and computational cancer biology through translational cancer research to clinical application. The Institute’s scientific Core Facilities work in partnership with the Institute’s Research Groups and are a repository for deep technological expertise and knowledge, playing a fundamental role at the heart of the Institute’s research community.
About the Role:
The Senior Scientific Associate (SSA) will join the CRUK CI Genomics Core (CIGC) team to provide single-cell services, project management, scientific and technical support, and training to other team members and research groups. The role requires hands-on laboratory work in single-cell service, advice on experimental design, technical support, training, data analysis, and technological innovation. The SSA will play a senior role in the team, ensuring the Core Facility’s day-to-day operations and maintaining uninterrupted service at an appropriate level.
Responsibilities:
- Provide single-cell service including project management
- Offer scientific and technical support, training, and advice on single-cell experimental design
- Conduct single-cell library preparation
- Assist with data analysis and optimization
- Ensure the smooth running of the Core Facility
- Produce project documentation, reports, and SOP’s
Requirements:
- Degree in biological or biotechnological sciences
- Experience with molecular biology techniques, including PCR/qPCR and DNA/RNA library preparation for sequencing
- Extensive experience in 10X single-cell library preparation
- Proficiency in single-cell/nuclei dissociation techniques
- Experience in cells/nuclei selection using CellenOne
- Knowledge of automated liquid handlers (Mosquito and Mantis)
- Familiarity with NGS technology (Illumina instruments)
