About the Job

The Institute of Ecology and Evolution at the Faculty of Biological Sciences is seeking a Scientific Employee to work on spatio-temporal stability in multitrophic ecosystem functions in the Jena Experiment. This position will commence on April 1, 2024, and the contract will be limited to 36 months. The Jena Experiment is one of the largest and longest running biodiversity experiments globally, providing unique opportunities to study the consequences of species loss on ecosystem functioning.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data analyses of long-term datasets
  • Write scientific publications relevant to the project
  • Present scientific results at local, national, and international conferences

Requirements

  • Scientific University degree (Diploma/M.Sc.) in biology, preferably ecology. A doctoral degree is desirable.
  • At least three years of research experience and publication of scientific results
  • Expertise and experience in community ecology and/or experimental biodiversity research
  • Advanced skills in statistical programming and data analyses
  • Interest and ability to prepare high-impact manuscripts for international journals
  • Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Team-oriented with interest and ability in interdisciplinary research and organizational skills
