About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist/Bioinformatician for a 2-year fixed-term contract. You will play a crucial role in advancing research to further our understanding of immune-mediated diseases and identifying new drug targets.

Responsibilities:

• Leading key analyses and supporting junior scientists
• Developing, undertaking, and scaling pilot analyses
• Curating and maintaining data repository
• Developing new pipelines and tools
• Optimizing existing pipelines

About You:

As the ideal candidate, you should possess:

• A degree or equivalent experience in one of the following subjects: Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Life Sciences or equivalent experience
• Previous experience handling large-scale genetic/genomic data
• Experience working with relational databases (e.g. MySQL) and good knowledge of programming languages to manipulate large datasets (Python, R)
• Experience working in Unix in a high performing computing environment
• Experience using version control platforms (e.g. GitHub)
• Experience creating and managing large scale data analysis pipelines, preferably using NextFlow
• A collaborative approach to research, taking a full and active role in discussions, contributing both with ideas and expertise, and mentor our more junior scientists.
• Familiar with FAIR principles
