Sensient Natural Ingredients is seeking a talented Intern – R&D to join our Summer 2025 Internship Program! The intern will focus on projects associated with finding uses for our excess garlic powder inventory. This includes assessing extruded garlic as a new product on its own or as a new feedstock for roasted garlic to create a unique flavor profile compared to our current standard garlic offerings.
Responsibilities
- Effectively contribute to new product ideation by participating in new product development projects, customer-focused collaborative teams, and other methods of developing new product concepts.
- Work closely with other members of R&D and cross-functional teams.
- Participate in new product pilot plant projects, with a focus on garlic processing methods, working closely with other departments, such as regulatory, quality, food safety, and operations.
Requirements
- Completed high school degree or equivalent with active enrollment in a BS degree program in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- A basic understanding of biological systems, chemistry, and preferably food science.
- Some analytical instrument knowledge and product testing knowledge are helpful.
- Basic ability to communicate and report on analytical data with insights and conclusions.
- Computer literacy – MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs. and comfortable working in a laboratory, pilot plant, and factory environment.
