Job Description:
At UCB we blend the best of our talents to unlock innovation. We are looking for a motivated summer intern to join the Gene Therapy Research team located in Bedford, MA. Our R&D lab designs produces, purifies and characterizes viral vectors to be used in gene therapy applications. The intern will learn from expert virologists and molecular biologists in Vector Biology and Discovery group about how vectors are designed, produced and validated. The intern will support therapeutic gene therapy programs and platform development activities by applying state-of-the-art cell and molecular biology laboratory techniques to engineer innovative AAV-based gene therapies for treating serious human diseases.
A laptop and other resources to support the work will be provided.
This paid internship is hands-on and expected to run from mid-May and continue through early August 2021, estimated at 40 hours per week.
Required: Pursuing a molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, genetics, or virology degree
Required: Ability and willingness to conduct hands-on laboratory work with recombinant viruses involving tasks like operating a microchannel pipette or working in a biosafety cabinet
Not Required: Previous experience with gene therapy or viral vectors
