Are you passionate about bioinformatics and protein sciences? Abcam, a leading life sciences company, is offering a summer internship opportunity at our Waltham, MA location. Join us from May to August and gain valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic research environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize bioinformatics tools to design and generate expression constructs.
- Purify proteins using automated (FPLC) equipment and various chromatography methods.
- Analyze proteins using techniques such as endotoxin, SDS-PAGE, HPLC-SEC, and Mass Spec.
- Independently design, plan, and conduct laboratory experiments to support new product development.
- Contribute to additional activities within the team as required.
- Communicate clearly with team members, providing delivery dates and necessary documentation.
- Document experiments and procedures, analyze and present experimental data within internal meetings, and participate in drafting and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The successful candidate will be in an undergraduate degree program in the field of STEM. Preferred qualifications include lab experience in protein purification, including generating proteins for multiple projects concurrently. Familiarity with bioinformatics tools to support the design of gene expression constructs is also desirable. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, positive, and enthusiastic team player with strong problem-solving capabilities. They should demonstrate a commitment to delivering the highest quality proteins and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. While the above qualifications are preferred, candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and demonstrate a strong interest in the role are encouraged to apply.
