Job Purpose and Impact
The Associate Biotechnologist will apply innovative technologies to help drive the development of new products and improved processes for the food, feed, and bio-industrial segments across Cargill’s business units. The key responsibility of this role will be to support senior research and development staff to generate and analyze critical experimental data, along with staying current with literature and analytical advancements in the field. This position is based in the Minneapolis Research and Development Center (Plymouth).
Key Accountabilities
- Assist the metabolic engineering and enzyme discovery teams through the use of high-throughput screening platforms.
- Support completion of research studies involving genomics, RNA sequencing, bioinformatics as well as developing new cell sampling and extraction methods.
- Use associated software applications, modeling techniques, and information systems to collect, store and analyze scientific data.
- Collaborate with researchers across different scientific backgrounds to achieve project milestones.
- Stay abreast of new laboratory technologies being used in the field.
- Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Proven working knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, cell biology, or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One or more years of related work experience.
- Knowledge of software applications, modeling techniques, and information systems used to collect, store, and analyze scientific data.
- Prior experience in microbiological techniques and development of assay systems.
- Experience with DNA/RNA extraction methods and sequencing workflows.
- Strong attention to detail.
