Job Description:
Under minimal direction from the manager, The Microbiologist I at Piramal performs a variety of microbial testing tasks, including raw material testing, finished product testing, stability testing, water testing, media preparation, growth promotion, antimicrobial effectiveness testing, and more. This role involves ensuring overall quality and efficiency in testing procedures and methodology.
Responsibilities:

Perform microbial examination of raw materials, finished products, and stability samples.

Conduct water testing, growth promotion of media, environmental monitoring, and microorganism identification.

Execute antimicrobial effectiveness testing, antibiotic microbial assays, method development, and suitability testing.

Maintain accurate documentation as per FDA, USP, cGMP, GLP, and ICH guidelines.

Train new analysts and ensure safety compliance within the lab.

Audit microbial testing procedures as needed.
Requirements:

Education: B.S. in microbiology, biology, or related field.

Experience: 3+ years in a pharmaceutical QC microbiology lab; an advanced degree with 2+ years may be considered.

Strong grasp of aseptic techniques, autoclave usage, media preparation, and microbial plating practices.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and LIMS.

Must be detail-oriented, self-driven, and capable of handling multiple projects.
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 10–25 lbs and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Work involves handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

Must not be allergic to chemicals or bio-substances used in labs.
