Position Summary

Bristol Myers Squibb seeks passionate and skilled college and graduate students eager to learn, grow, and collaborate with expert mechanistic modelers in:

  • Pharmacometrics (PMx)
  • Quantitative System Pharmacology (QSP)
  • Model-Based Meta-Analysis (MBMA)
  • Physiologically-Based Pharmacokinetics (PBPK)

Interns will work within the Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacometrics (CP&P) Department on mechanistic modeling projects under the guidance of experienced scientists.

Potential projects include:

  • Assessing and developing methods for efficient characterization and prediction of small molecule ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion).
  • Developing new models for various modalities.
  • Creating and parameterizing mini-models for pathways relevant to discovery, toxicology, and clinical research.
  • Projects may also involve pharmacometric analyses such as pharmacokinetic (PK) and exposure-response modeling and Model-Based Meta-Analysis (MBMA).

Program Overview

As part of this internship for the life science students, you will gain insight into the drug development process through:

  • Direct interaction with matrix drug development teams.
  • Networking opportunities with fellow interns and BMS professionals.
  • Full-time engagement from June to August 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with experienced employees on projects in:

  • Population Pharmacokinetic (PK) modeling
  • Exposure-Response modeling
  • Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling
  • Machine Learning Initiatives in Pharmacometrics

Develop and parametrize mechanistic models using systems of ordinary differential equations. Present analysis results in scientific posters and team meetings. Calibrate mini-models using in-house or public domain data. Identify physiological ranges for sensitive parameters. Incorporate biological pathway knowledge into modeling platforms. Assist in the analysis of discovery, toxicology, and clinical data.

Additional Tasks:

  • Prepare datasets for pharmacometrics analysis.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis for PK, biomarker, efficacy, and safety data.
  • Develop models to describe clinical observations and drug-response relationships.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts as needed.
  • Participate in all BMS Intern Program activities.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Enrollment in a Ph.D., M.S., or related undergraduate program in Bioinformatics orย  Biomedical Sciences
  • Graduation date later than August 2026.
  • Familiarity with quantitative methods.
  • Hands-on or formal experience with modeling tools such as NONMEM, Monolix, Phoenix/NLME, R, SAS, Python, Simcyp, GastroPlus, MATLAB/SimBiology.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for the full internship duration.
  • No visa sponsorship is available for this position.

This is a temporary, time-bound internship that does not guarantee permanent employment.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Range: $29.00 โ€“ $43.00
Final compensation will depend on experience, skill level, and geographic location.
