The Dalebroux Lab investigates how Bacteroides outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) influence gut homeostasis and immunity, particularly in preventing Clostridioides difficile infection. Using advanced techniques in bacteriology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell culture, and genetics, the lab aims to uncover mechanisms that regulate microbial interactions and host health. Educational Requirements for Research Technician Role:

  • Required: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Biological Science, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, or other health-related field.
  • Equivalency: 48 months of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.

Key Responsibilities for Research Technician Role:

  • Conduct simple research experiments, measurements, and laboratory analyses.
  • Prepare, isolate, and identify specimens and collect various research samples.
  • Assist with clinical research projects and data collection.
  • Maintain accurate logs, organize research files, and manage consent forms and databases.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data; discuss findings with the Principal Investigator.
  • Prepare progress reports and summaries of research activities.
  • Perform literature reviews and contribute to data analysis presentations.
  • Carry out all other duties as required for research project completion.

Skills Required for Research Technician Role:

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and regulations
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to collect, organize, and analyze research data
  • Manual dexterity and ability to perform laboratory tasks
