Biology Internship Description
Biology internship opportunities through the SPARC (Student Partnership and Research Collaboration) Program allow students to gain practical research experience while continuing their academic studies. SPARC Associates support laboratory and operational research and development activities within a regulated biological materials manufacturing environment.
Participants apply their academic knowledge while gaining hands-on experience in aseptic techniques, laboratory documentation, compliance procedures, and standardized scientific processes. The program is designed for rising third- and fourth-year undergraduate students pursuing biology or related life science degrees. The SPARC Program offers five distinct research areas:
- Cryobiology
- Microphysiological Systems
- Microbiology
- Cell Biology
- Sequencing and Bioinformatics
Students can apply once and be considered for opportunities across multiple departments.
Qualifications
Biology internship candidates should meet the following requirements:
Required
- Currently pursuing a life science-focused bachelor’s degree at the Universities at Shady Grove.
- Rising third- or fourth-year undergraduate student in Biology or a related field.
