- In this role, the Scientist will support the design, construction, production and evaluation of existing and novel oncolytic virus candidate platforms and therapeutics for the treatment of cancers.
- The Scientist will be a well-organized and highly productive bench scientist who can design and execute experiments efficiently and interpret data in the context of multidisciplinary project teams.
- The position requires the ability to embrace new technologies quickly and the ability to perform in a fast-paced, matrix structured work environment.
Essential Skills and Capabilities

B.S in Virology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Immunology, Oncology or other relevant scientific disciplines with 5+ years of experience OR
M.S in Virology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Immunology, Oncology or other relevant scientific disciplines with 2+ years of experience
Experience
AstraZeneca Virology Job Vacancy
- Strong hands-on experience with cell culture and viral propagation
- Experience with molecular biology techniques such as cloning, site-direct mutagenesis, DNA isolation and purification, RT-PCR and qPCR
- Strong assay development skills
- Experience performing standard laboratory procedures for the study of protein expressions such as Western blot, ELISA and immune-staining techniques
- Willingness to work with BSL-2 and BSL-2* infectious agents (vaccination will be required)
Desirable for the role

- Hands-on experience with DNA and/or RNA viruses
- Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience
- Experience working with animal models for oncology or chronic viral disease including handling animals, blood sampling, necropsy of tissues and administration of treatments
- Experience in evaluating immunological endpoints by various means such as multi-parameter flow cytometry, EliSpot, MSD and/or Luminex
